Cambria and Chris wanted a wedding day that reflected them. They didn’t care about the typical fanfare, traditions, and large guests lists. Camp Wandawega in Elkhorn, WI, was the perfect venue for their alternative wedding weekend.
Camp Wandawega is filled with vintage charm like a Wes Anderson film set. Their guests spent the weekend singing karaoke, canoeing, fishing, hiking, and enjoying other camp activities. It was the perfect fall weekend with temperatures in the 70ºs, followed by a nip in the air in the evening.
As Cambria walked down the aisle, she had a moment when it all hit her at once. She paused to hold back tears, and Chris simultaneously beamed and teared up watching his bride approach him carrying jewel-toned flowers. Their vows were heartfelt, hilarious, and honest. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Cambria and Chris wanted to be completely present with their friends and family, so they chose not to take any formal group photos on the wedding day. Instead, they spent cocktail hour laughing with and hugging their guests. With the extra time, they were also able to canoe on the lake and savor the magic of the day together.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the band began their set list. The only thing Cambria and Chris asked of their guests was to never leave the dance floor empty. Boy, did they deliver!
The night ended with a roaring bonfire that sparked against the crisp night air. Everyone gathered around the flames eating late night snacks and singing campfire tunes.
