Last year was a pivotal year in my business. I rebranded and launched Megan Gielow Photography to focus on elevated, intentional, tailored wedding photography. Morningwild was reborn to exclusively house my elopement, family, and boudoir portfolios. After tinkering with things for years, I finally felt it was time to create two different paths for my business.
I also dipped my toes into the commercial world, working on projects for Suomi Design Works and Rootid. They were completely different projects, but they scratched passions of mine in design and dramatic portraiture.
I photographed weddings all around the Southeast, and I also made it to the Bahamas and Iceland for two special sessions. I was reunited with many past clients in NC, D.C., and Boston and enthusiastically photographed their growing families.
I jumped into WIPA and joined our NC board as Membership Director. I’ve truly enjoyed helping make our wedding community an inclusive and welcoming space. I attended Engage for the first time, and it invigorated me for 2025.
2024 felt like an inflection point. Beyond the pivots I had intentionally made, Helene struck Asheville and turned us all upside down. The storm rooted us deeper in the mountains, creating a desire in us to help rebuild our community and make Asheville shine again. The election shifted how many of us feel about our country on both sides of the aisle.
If there’s anything I’ve learned this year, it is to stay open-minded because life is unpredictable. I’m walking into 2025 wanting to dive into projects that creatively fuel me. I’ve been working hard to get my drone license, and I’m looking forward to integrating that into my work this year. I want to continue to serve my clients well, as that will always be the focus of my business practices.
Cheers to 2025 being the most creative year yet!
