They planned their wedding at Diana at the Biltmore Estate in the Blue Ridge Mountains during peak fall color, overlooking layers of reds, oranges, and golds that stretched into the horizon. Shamus’s dad officiated the ceremony, and they shared personal vows with their closest family and friends. They found out they had chosen the same wedding date as Shamus’ grandparents, without realizing it until after they had set their date.

Shamus and Henson met at a drama school party at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2017. It was an easy connection, shared uncommon names, a similar sense of humor, and a love of storytelling. They got engaged five years later on Shamus’ 27th birthday, while visiting Disney’s EPCOT. He proposed on the Italy bridge, and they began planning a wedding that felt personal and true to them.

Their wedding details reflected their love for film and storytelling, as Henson works as an actress for Universal Studios, and Shamus is a writer. Their stationery included a movie reel design, save-the-dates and escort cards printed as vintage-style tickets. They forged their own rings days before the wedding, and both rings include their birthstones and an opal for their wedding month (October).

One of the most memorable moments came during the reception, when Shamus and Henson surprised their guests with a choreographed dance. They finished with everyone on their feet, cheering and clapping. It felt like a finale pulled straight from the closing scene of a favorite movie.
