Abbie and Mark love living in New York City, but they first laid eyes upon each other during graduate school in the Carolinas. They wanted their guests to enjoy the beauty of the state where they fell in love and decided to host their wedding at Yesterday Spaces. A few of my favorite memories:
// I adored how they infused their family histories + culture into their wedding details. Abbie wore Mark’s grandmother’s necklace. His wedding band was his grandfather’s. Their wedding decor was inspired by the colors of Haitian art, a homage to Abbie’s family. They also incorporated the Hora and the breaking of the glass as a nod to Mark’s Jewish heritage.
// We had the rainiest day for their engagement session and hovering clouds the entire afternoon on their wedding day. With the threat of rain, we had to move the ceremony into the barn. Even though Abbie had envisioned walking down the aisle of trees, they were both incredibly happy with the back-up plan. The barn was cozy and romantic with the dried flowers hanging in the beams. Even the birds joined the celebration by circling Abbie + Mark during the ceremony to make things a bit more magical. And, it never rained.
// Split Second Sound absolutely rocked this party! Their guests danced all night, and I adored that Soca and Calypso music was incorporated into the playlist.
I want to give a shout out to the incredible vendors that were a part of this day! We were able to get this wedding featured on Green Wedding Shoes last month because of the fantastic teamwork and vision. Check out the feature here. Images from this wedding have also been featured on Martha Stewart Weddings.
