The week before Elisabeth and Nick’s wedding, they were alarmed with an approaching hurricane front. As the days ticked closer, it looked more and more likely that the storm was going to settle over Highlands, NC on their wedding day. Their creative team made back-up plans to ensure that the weekend’s festivities went off without a hitch. Thankfully, the storm turned last minute, and they were able to host their wedding without worrying about power outages and excessive rain.

Old Edwards Inn is surrounded by lush forests that attract an ethereal, otherworldly environment for wedding photography. The hurricane’s aftermath left Elisabeth and Nick with a foggy, overcast day with a little bit of fall chill in the air. Elisabeth lost her father years ago, and she’s formed an extremely close bond with her mother. She gifted her cookbooks from places they’ve traveled to over the years, as well a photo album memento.

Elisabeth and Nick exchanged letters under the vibrant mustard leaves that observed them from their canopy. Her brothers walked her down the aisle; they exchanged vows; Nick tried to break the glass; and the ring bearer yawned, assumedly not interested in the ceremony but possibly thinking about the cake that he would eat in the near future.

Their guests enjoyed a fine meal from the extraordinary chefs at Old Edwards under a dazzling botanical arrangement of greenery that hung like vines from the ceiling. The band kept the dance floor full the entire evening until everyone gathered outside to wish the newlyweds off into the night.
